Templates for 2nd age armor |

Since I'm working on making 2nd age armor, and it takes quite a lot fo time to get the templates for armor right, do any of you, who have made your own armor, still got the templates? There ar requite nice ones for Helm's Deep armor online, but none for 2nd age.

I don't think I've seen any templates around either... people are either too busy to put them on line or aren't sure how or maybe just haven't gotten around to it.
BUT here's some good news... in December I'm having a workshop at the Gathering (see link on main armor site) and Jose/Got Maul will be working with a group of people instructing them how to make Elrond armor templates. So... you might want to try to go to the workshop OR you'll have to wait until I get back... I'm hoping to bring home a set of templates for the site. Julia

I would love to go to yor workshop, but i'm afraid that my budget won't hold up to the transatlantic flight costs. Unfortunately, schoolteacher is not the best pad for profession here.
So..it's the waiting game for me. Meanwhile, I'l see if I can scann my own templates, so we could compare results. |

Hi, JediElfQueen & Farliner! (and everybody else, too!)
I've been a HUGE fan of the High Elves since that Prologue scene where they stand ready to receive the charge of the Mordor Orcs (Ooh, yeah!) Never fear, though, I've tons of admiration for Haldir & the Helm's Deep Galadhrim Warriors (I thought they upheld well the gallant Elven traditions of valor and tenacity originally set forth in The Silmarillion!). Furthermore, I've enjoyed this site a lot for the variety of ideas and techniques you & others have presented for the Elven Armor costume designs. Would you also keep me in mind for the 2nd Age templates when they become available after the Toronto convention? I'd really appreciate that! Meanwhile, have a safe & happy Thanksgiving!! If I can, I'll try to set something up on the armor as sort of an offshoot of the main armor. I'm not going to make it, so I can't do an in depth tutorial unless somoen else does the work.

Hi, Julia! Thanks, I thought I'd ask you 'cause I wasn't sure where to find Jose/Got Maul's site... I'd seen a site with some fantastic Elrond-style armor, but I forgot the address(
!), and I know it wasn't Leiasky's. Oh, and I won't mind the work either-- I'm still a little new to this online stuff. I'm more of the Old School hack-and-paste club, but isn't that what dropcloths & 409wipes are for?Dave |

I remember someone posting his/her Vambrace Template and/or the chest armor ones too, over at LOTR_Costume ML sometime ago under the Photo Album but it's probably gone now. Think was early this year when I was still lurking there.
I'll have to dig through my collection on the other computer to see if it's in there (PC had to take a few days break cause it's DVD-Rom being acting weird that it can't read anything and I can't view my TTT:EE DVD again )

Ugh!! Good luck with the computer and its misbehaviour ("Bad computer--BAD computer!!"
). I believe the alleycatscratch.com site still shows the 2nd Age armor thing you're looking for. You just go to the Second Age Armor page, then scroll down their listing of sections until you come to "Tammy's armor study", or something like that. It takes you to her site (www.geocities.com/maegovannen/costumeconstruction.html), where she listed some gorgeous pics of her work (esp. some nice closeups of the vambraces, chest armour, hip armor, and shoulder covers). "No patterns are (nor will be) available on her site", though. This is a quote from an e-mail sent this summer, and I honor her wishes with no problem--'nuff said. Now, there is a Costumers listing here on this site with a "2nd Age Armor" section. You might just find the site there-- I think there's about 5-6 folks listed there (incl. the afore-mentioned lady["Leiasky"]). I'll go check on it, too-- just in case somebody added new stuff on their site. |

Hi guys!
If you'd like you can visit: www.crystalballcostumes.com/SecondAge.html I've put up a page that explains how to get a good fitting chest template. It can be very tricky with all the wrapping and curving, but I think this method could be very helpful. Hope it helps! *~Stephanie~* |

Hi all!
Recently I was explaining to a friend how the 2nd age armour is put together - especially the bottom few rows. But they had difficulty understanding it and thought it was a little weird. I wanted to show them the reference pics similar to the ones on the crystalballcostumes site but, apparently, it's under construction??? Does anybody have any similar pics, templates, etc. Also do we have any idea when/if crystalballcostumes will be up again. I always thought it was a great little site!!!! Dengar |

I used to have the templates up on my site, but I had to take them down since I sell a version the armor at my website now.

I stumbled onto this site in search of ideas for armor, i am impressed by most of what i see. i made my 2nd age out of 12 gauge stainless, and i had no visuals, only memories and no templates. thus, i ended up with more of a breastplate, but it looks pretty sick and i am rather pleased. i sort of peiced together armor that i liked and ended up with something that i think is at least decent. i would appreciate thoughts and suggestions
x79.xanga.com/fdcc1a47634...277012.jpg i worked with these, as always they are from scratch im not really sure where i got the idea, maybe wolverine or diablo 2. actually probably both. made with cold rolled, but not very functional, i rarely get first blood with these. xf9.xanga.com/2e2c364379c...276068.jpg a failed attempt at stainless hinged orc armor. x33.xanga.com/f94c075bd72...767827.jpg that sheild has blocked many swords and my axe, one of my better scratch creations xc3.xanga.com/c7ec102050c...767833.jpg |

Heehee.....I still do have the old templates inside my old PC but it's stuck there now as so far no way for me to transfer it to CD or External HD or Thumdrive.
So only people I can give a copy of them in hardcopy are my local group members which so far comes to......one, given a copy years ago. |
